Meet the essentials

Every layer has a purpose.

Together, the essentials create comfort, balance and an unmistakable sense of arrival.

Sheets

The breathable foundation and the layer closest to your skin.

Comforters

Lofted warmth for a softer, more inviting bed.

Quilts

A lighter layer with a tailored, structured presence.

Pillows

Personalised support for the head, neck and shoulders.

Towels

The softness of Astara, carried beyond the bed.

Where the day loosens its hold.

The bed is a place

Where the day loosens its hold.

It is where mornings begin slowly, conversations continue after the lights go out and the familiar becomes restorative. Astara considers every layer so that this everyday place feels quietly exceptional.

Know every layer

What it is. How it feels. Where it belongs.

A considered bed is not defined by how many layers it has, but by how thoughtfully each one is chosen.

01

Sheets

The foundation closest to your skin. A fitted sheet creates a smooth surface; a flat sheet adds breathability; pillowcases complete the tactile experience.

Every-night comfort
02

Comforters

A soft outer shell and insulating fill create loft, warmth and volume. Use alone or inside a duvet cover for styling flexibility.

Plush warmth
03

Quilts

Multiple stitched layers create lighter warmth and a tailored silhouette. Spread across the bed, fold at the foot or layer beneath a comforter.

Light structure
04

Pillows

Soft offers a lower profile, medium balances most preferences and firm provides greater elevation and structure.

Personal support
05

Towels

Absorbent, soft and generously proportioned bath linen carries Astara comfort beyond the bedroom.

Our iconic fabrics

The character of bedding begins with the cloth.

Explore how weave changes touch, drape, temperature and the way light travels across the bed.

Crisp · Cool · Impeccably fresh

Air Percale

A balanced one-over-one-under weave gives percale its matte finish, clean structure and natural breathability.

The fibre library

Begin with what the cloth is made from.

Fibre gives bedding its natural character. The weave then shapes how that character feels, drapes and performs.

Egyptian Cotton

Selected long-staple fibres can be spun into finer, smoother yarns, creating a soft hand feel with enduring strength.

Smooth · Refined · Long-lasting

Supima® Cotton

Premium American-grown Pima cotton with extra-long fibres, valued for softness, strength and lasting colour.

Exceptional softness · Durable

Pure Linen

Woven from flax, linen is breathable, tactile and naturally expressive. It becomes softer and more personal with use.

Airy · Textured · Relaxed

Organic Cotton

Cotton grown to certified agricultural standards, paired with considered processing for natural, breathable comfort.

Soft · Breathable · Considered

TENCEL™ Lyocell

Known for fluid drape, a gentle hand feel and effective moisture management—smooth without unnecessary heaviness.

Fluid · Cool-touch · Gentle

Understanding weaves

The same fibre can feel entirely different.

Weave describes how yarns cross one another. It determines whether cotton feels crisp, silken, textured or substantial.

How the weaves differ

The construction changes touch, appearance, airflow and drape.

  • PercaleOne-over-one-under; matte, crisp and cool.
  • SateenLonger yarn floats; smooth, fluid and softly luminous.
  • StripeTonal woven bands; tailored and hotel-inspired.
  • DobbySmall woven motifs; subtle architectural texture.
  • JacquardComplex woven pattern; dimensional and expressive.

Which weave is best for you?

There is no universal best—only the weave that suits your temperature and tactile preference.

  • Sleep warmChoose light, breathable percale.
  • Love softnessChoose smooth, drapey cotton sateen.
  • Want hotel polishChoose a tonal stripe or restrained dobby.
  • Prefer textureChoose dobby, linen or jacquard.
  • Want a statementChoose dimensional jacquard.

Sateen, not satin: in cotton bedding, sateen is the accurate term for the smooth, softly lustrous weave.

Understanding thread count

A number is only the beginning.

Thread count is the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into one square inch. Fibre quality, yarn construction, weave and finishing matter just as much.

The ideal thread count is not necessarily the highest. It is the one that creates the airflow, touch and weight you prefer.

Complete-bed recommendations

A considered answer for every kind of sleeper.

Thread count, weave and product work together. Start with how you sleep, then build the bed around it.

The Hot Sleeper

Keep the bed breathable and the layers intentionally light.

200–300 TC percale · Lightweight quilt · Minimal layers
02

The Hotel Sleeper

Build crisp structure, tailored edges and a composed pillow arrangement.

300–400 TC percale or stripe · Lofted comforter · Tailored shams
03

The Soft-Sheet Lover

Choose a fluid surface with a gentle glow and balanced weight.

400–600 TC sateen · Medium comforter · Tonal throw
04

The Cocooned Sleeper

Create depth with denser sateen, loft and layered warmth.

600–800 TC sateen · High-loft comforter · Supportive pillows
05

The Natural Minimalist

Let texture and easy drape replace excessive decoration.

Pure linen or organic cotton · Light quilt · Relaxed styling

The art of layering

How to dress an Astara bed.

A beautifully considered bed is built layer by layer, then softened with one effortless finishing gesture.

01

Foundation

Smooth the fitted sheet securely over the mattress.

02

Top sheet

Place the finished side down so its detail appears when folded back.

03

Warmth

Add a quilt for structure or a comforter for softness.

04

Pillows

Arrange sleeping pillows first, followed by shams and one accent.

05

Final gesture

Let a throw fall naturally across the foot or lower corner.
